Activate a wireless SMC card on openSUSE

Wireless network card: SMC2835W EU
OS: openSUSE 10.3

How to get this to work?
  1. Install the latest version of the ndiswrapper
(in YAST, use this repository, follow the tutorial here)
  2. Get the latest driver for the Netgear wg511v1
(see the Ndiswrapper WIKI: Card Listing)
  3. Extract the exe file and copy the /Driver/netwg511.inf file to openSUSE
  4. Start up NDISGTK
  5. Click add driver and locate the inf file
  6. Plug in your network card, the NDISGTK should tell you the hardware is present
  7. Start up the Network Devices > Network Card program
  8. Select the SMC network card and click Configure
  9. On the general tab, set the Device Activation to At Boot Time
  10. Restart openSUSE
  11. The card will be detected and you can connect to your preferred wireless network
