By default in IE8, it is not possible anymore to start a new browser process as an other user. To restore this functionality, follow these steps:
- open regedit
- go to the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
- add a DWORD TabProcGrowth with a value of 0

On XP SP2 this setting did not work for me.
Hi Sandra, sure you're using IE8?
Most definitely. 8.0.6001.18702CO
I am also running SuperiorSU (gives you multiple sessions on XP Pro, much like Fast User Switching on XP Home). So I figured it must interfere somehow, and I didn't really have time to troubleshoot further like trying it on a machine without SuperiorSU.
When I tested, I tested with RunAs in the default session, but that didn't work, nor did running IE in a 2nd SuperiorSU session.
